History of John Kerr Chapter
The John Kerr Chapter of DAR was organized 7 March 1921 with 13 members. The name was originally Medary but the National Society of DAR felt that they needed a name more reflecting the Revolution.
They decided to honor Robert Kerr, a local college professor, who was the great great grandson of John Kerr a Revolutionary War soldier. At the end of the first year the chapter had 16 new members plus the original 13. The first Regent was Nina E. H. Thompson. The current membership is 33 members.
